Competition Prizes
Substantial prize money given out in TiEQuest has been possible due to the generous contributions and support of our sponsors, who are supporters of entrepreneurship. TiE Toronto gratefully acknowledges the support of all sponsors. TiEQuest 2010 provided following prizes:

1. TiEQuest Winner Prize
  • $50,000 in cash allocated as follows:
    • $20,000 as the "Dobson Prize in Entrepreneuership" given by Joseph L. Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto
    • $30,000 as the TiEQuest Award
  • $31,000 of in-kind services from various sponsors allocated as follows:
    • $10,000 worth of services from MaRS. The services will include (a) Advisory Services, (b) Market Intelligence through partnerships with premium providers and (c) Conference facilities in the MaRS Collaboration Centre for 10 business days within a six-month period of time.
    • $10,000 worth of legal services from Cameron MacKendrick LLP
    • $5,000 of legal services from Gowlings
    • $5,000 of patent advisory services from Tabrizi Law Office
    • $1,000 worth of consultation relating to the SR&ED tax incentive program from the OME Group

2. TiEQuest Second Place Winner
  • $25,000 in cash
  • $23,500 of in-kind services from the sponsors allocated as follows:
    • $7,500 worth of services from MaRS. The services will include (a) Advisory Services, (b) Market Intelligence through partnerships with premium providers.
    • $10,000 worth of legal services from Fasken Martineau
    • $5,000 of legal services from Cameron MacKendrick LLP
    • $1,000 worth of consultation relating to the SR&ED tax incentive program from the OME Group

3. TiEQuest Third Place Winner
  • $13,500 of in-kind services from the sponsors allocated as follows:
    • $7,500 worth of services from MaRS. The services will include (a) Advisory Services, (b) Market Intelligence through partnerships with premium providers.
    • $5,000 of legal services from Cameron MacKendrick LLP
    • $1,000 worth of consultation relating to the SR&ED tax incentive program from the OME Group

4. McMaster New Entrepreneur Prize awarded to a best Student Team. To qualify for this prize all members of the team should be full-time students of an accredited educational institution in North America. The Award comprises of
  • $5,000 in cash
  • $12,000 scholarship from McMaster University for their MEEI program at the Xerox Centre for Engineering, Entrepreneurship and innovation.

5. OCE Best Intellectual Property Award.
  • $5,000 cash to the most promising patent or patent application
  • $1,000 worth of consultation relating to the SR&ED tax incentive program from OME Group.

6. Gowlings Best Clean Tech Venture Prize
  • $5,000 cash to the best venture in Clean Tech Industry
  • $1,000 worth of consultation relating to the SR&ED tax incentive program from OME Group.
     


Attodyne was the winner of this prize in TiEQuest 2010. David Pamenter of Gowlings with the Winning team Attodyne.
 

7. HTX Best Healthcare Industry Award
  • $5,000 cash to the best venture in the Medical Assisted Technology Industry
  • $5,000 of advisory services from HTX Inc.
     


LifeLikeBioTissue was the winner of this prize in 2010, Diana Piluria and Mickey Milner of HTX with the winning team Leonard Millon and Karen Millon of LifeLikeBioTissue.
